What is Love Set Run?

We believe the purpose of life is to love one another, share happiness and kindness, and to celebrate the beauty of this world.

In summer of 2017, the two of us will travel around the globe, volunteering and giving back to the world everywhere we go, while documenting our travels and creating a web series from our adventures.

Love Set Run is a way of living. It stands for taking action to spread a message of love, unity, and the interconnectedness of everything.

With love,

The Adventure

The Adventure

On May 30th, 2017, we will begin our 5+ month journey around the world. We will visit eight countries on five different continents. In each destination we are determined to make a positive impact in some way - whether it's volunteering on a farm, working with the locals, sharing our knowledge or connecting with new cultures. We consider ourselves global citizens with a lot more to learn than we have to give, and promise to be an open book with plenty of experience to gain.

Costa Rica

3 weeks  We will be volunteering on an organic farm via WWOOF, working with the land and the locals in Rio Celeste, and learning about the ecosystem all while getting our hands nice and dirty (it's the rainy season!)

4 weeks  We will start in Cusco with a trek along the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu. From there we will fly to Iquitos in the Amazonian rainforest where we will be volunteering at La Isla de los Monosa monkey island sanctuary. Afterwards we will partake in a week-long ritual of drinking a sacred tea called ayahuasca in a remote jungle location.

1 week  Spain is just a stopover on our way to our next destination - we decided to spend a few days in Europe since it was a much cheaper route than flying directly from South America to Africa, so we chose Barcelona as a landing spot. We've heard good things!

2 weeks  Iceland is admittedly a bit of a guilty pleasure. We couldn't find any volunteering opportunities here - regardless, volunteering doesn't always come in the form of a week of manual labor - sometimes it's the little things you find here and there that present themselves as a way to give back. We shall see :)

South Africa

3 1/2 weeks  We start in Cape Town, where we will volunteer at Drakenstein lion sanctuary for a week, as well as find ways to immerse ourselves in the local culture. From there we head to Johannesburg where we will safari in Kruger National Park.

5 weeks  A lifelong dream will come true when we land in Kathmandu and venture into the Himalayas. Before the big trek we will be volunteering either in the rural town of Bandipur or the second largest city, Pokhara. The last 18 days of our trip will consist of a hike to Everest Base Camp via the Gokyo lakes - supposedly one of the most stunning mountain views in the world.

2 weeks  Flying into the capital of Vientiane, we will spend a few days exploring before taking a bus north to Vang Vieng where we will spend the week volunteering with locals - perhaps building a school or teaching english to children. After that we will take another bus north to Luang Prabang where we will hopefully stay with some locals and learn their ways of living. We've heard it's pretty rustic, but that's what this adventure is all about!

2 weeks  After 21 weeks of constant movement, we're flying to the south of Thailand to Krabi to soak up some rays and catch up on some much needed rest. We plan on finding some way to volunteer here but will probably not be working with an organization, rather we'll look for opportunities on our own. When we're not volunteering you can probably find us napping on a sun-soaked beach or diving in the turquoise waters.

We will return back to Los Angeles the first week of November, undoubtedly as changed people.

The Backstory

The Backstory

We met through an online roommate ad in November 2011. We fell head over heels for each other almost instantaneously, and a month later we decided to spend the rest of our lives together.  After Andre proposed (pictured above), we submitted an entry to The Knot's Dream Wedding contest for a chance to win an all expenses paid wedding in New York City on Valentine's Day 2013. We were selected as finalists, and thanks to the incredible support of our family and friends, won the grand prize. It was on that stage that we promised each other to share our love with the world, and to give back to the world more than we receive.

During our honeymoon we worked with a tsunami relief group in the hardest hit area of northern Japan, spent time caring for elephants at a sanctuary in Thailand, and provided food and supplies for an orphanage in Bali. Somehow, that still didn't feel like enough.

Love Set Run is the culmination of years of planning, a grand vision to spread awareness, and a manifestation of our wedding vows from that incredible day. We will volunteer wherever we can, we will connect with the locals to find out what they really need to flourish, and we will use whatever resources we have available to share what we learn with the world. We want to be a living example that traveling doesn't have to be purely leisure - it is possible to make a positive contribution wherever you go.
